FINAL ENGINE - AN XNA ENGINE WITH SOME OF SHADERS AND SOME OF AUGMENTED REALITY

In 2007, after working with OpenGL, I began to work with my own Engine. I initially used DirectX 9, but later I found XNA and continued using this API.

In 2008, I used what I had developed up to that moment and transformed it into the main platform of my Master Thesis's project. The main goal was (and still is) to produce a real-time engine with some novel graphics techniques, supporting a number of augmented reality technologies.

Characteristics:

  • Augmented Reality technologies like ARTag, ARToolkit Plus and ALVAR.
  • Shaders like SSAO, shadow mapping, blur, carpaint, etc.
  • The engine's shaders are capable of working with FX Composer, and the new ones can be easily incorporated to the engine.
  • The engine’s code is highly structured and is prepared to be improved and/or extended.
  • Pickers, manipulators, User Interface, sound, video reproduction, etc.

Thank you Benjamin Nitschke for your excellent tutorials, they were really helpful.

MODELING AND RENDERING OF A
LAMBORGHINI LP640 IN SOFTIMAGE XSI

I worked in my first version of this car in 2007. At the beggining I was trying to improve my limited skills in both subjects: modeling and rendering. Later, in 2008 I did this version. It’s still a work in progress, and unfortunatly, for the time being, it’s stopped. First of all I want to keep improving my skill with other projects to finally complete it.

I enjoyed a lot doing this car, to me this project was more than a teaching ground, it was an opportunity to know what I was capable of, and to know how much I love this.

Characteristics:

  • The 3D tool used was Softimage XSI.
  • The render Engine, of course, was Mental Ray with the use of architectural shaders.
  • I utilize more than 1000 pictures of reference.
  • The technique used was polygonal subdivision.
  • Without subdivision there are 170378 triangles.

I want to thank all the cg-cars.com community for the help and the constructive ideas.

DENTOON: MODELING AND RENDERING
MY GIRLFRIEND DENIZ IN A CARTOON STYLE.

With the main purpose of continue the learning of not real-time 3D graphics I begin to do organics tutorials. Later I came with the idea of model my own girlfriend. It wasn’t, and still isn’t, an easy task.

I’m still unsure until what level I can work in this project. There are wonderful topics like facial animation that maybe are beyond of my spare time.

With this project I try to:

  • Improve my modeling techniques, particularly with organic modeling.
  • Improve my rendering techniques, surface scattering, etc.
  • Learn more about animation.
  • Learn skinning animation.
  • Learn how to work with hair systems.

I want to thank my girlfriend for be so beautiful and so great person. Loves you.

OTHER PROJECTS

I’ve been working in the pass in some other minor projects, like:

  • License Plate Recognition. A C# and OpenCV application for the post-grade course Image Processing.
  • Pascal Compiler. A Java application for the grade course Compilers.
  • Mini Teg. A Java application for the grade course Object Oriented Programming.
  • www.dtemas.com.ar. An PHP/My SQL web page for a juridical library.
